The Shirakawa Ice Pillars, located near Kosaka Onsen Keyaki-no-Yu in Kiso, Nagano, are a stunning natural winter spectacle. Formed by the freezing waters of Mt. Ontake, these ice formations create a breathtaking icy curtain, reaching up to 250 meters wide and 50 meters high. The contrast between the white snow and blue ice offers a mesmerizing view. Lit up at night, the pillars transform into a mystical scene. The best time to visit is from mid-January to mid-February. Parking is available for about 10 cars.
