Ryūun-in Temple, founded in 1625, is a precious building that survived the Boshin War unscathed, preserving its Edo-period temple complex. Located in Matsumae, a 10-minute walk from Matsushiro Bus Stop, the temple features a main hall and priest's quarters built in 1842, designated as National Important Cultural Properties in 1992. The temple grounds are also home to the famed Ezo Kasumi cherry tree, said to be over 100 years old, making spring an ideal time to visit. The temple also features a white dandelion, a rare sight in Hokkaido. Ryūun-in offers a serene glimpse into the region's history and natural beauty.
