Takeo Hirose Memorial Hall

Overview

The Takeo Hirose Memorial Hall, located within the Hirose Shrine in Taketa, Oita Prefecture, commemorates Admiral Takeo Hirose, a hero of the Russo-Japanese War. The museum displays artifacts from Hirose's life, including letters, photographs, and items from his time in the Imperial Japanese Navy. Visitors can view a cutter from the battleship Asahi, where Hirose served. The hall offers a glimpse into the life of a significant figure from the Meiji era. The shrine grounds also provide a panoramic view of the Taketa castle town. It's a 15-minute walk from Bungo-Taketa Station. The facility welcomes guide dogs.
