Toshichi Onsen Saiunkaku is a unique mountain hot spring located at 1400m altitude in Hachimantai, Iwate Prefecture. Known as one of the highest altitude hot springs in Northern Japan, it offers a rustic, traditional onsen experience with naturally bubbling, milky-white sulfurous waters. The hot spring is open from late April to late October. The facility features several open-air baths, some with natural mud for skin treatments, and separate gender indoor baths. It's a popular spot for hikers and those exploring the scenic Urabandai traverse. Note that access may require a bus or car ride, and conditions can be rugged.
