The Hirado Xavier Memorial Church, established in 1931 and renamed in 1971 to commemorate St. Francis Xavier's visit to Hirado, is a must-see landmark. Its distinctive moss-green exterior and Gothic-style architecture, complete with soaring spires, create a picturesque scene. Uniquely situated among traditional temples, the church offers a striking blend of Japanese and Western aesthetics. Located a 15-minute walk from Hirado Port, the church provides free admission. Note that the interior may be closed to visitors due to COVID-19 restrictions, but the exterior view is well worth the visit. The best time to visit is during the day to appreciate the architectural details and surrounding landscape.
