The Nakazendera Kofun Group in Yasugi, Shimane Prefecture, is a nationally designated historic site featuring the remains of a Yayoi period (3rd-4th century) burial complex. Originally consisting of 19 tombs, today two keyhole-shaped tombs are preserved and maintained. The No. 8-10 tombs, discovered in the 1960s, are mid-sized (18m, 27m including protrusions) and helped popularize this unique tomb style nationwide. Located near Nakazendera Temple, the site offers a glimpse into ancient burial practices. Access is a 5-minute bus ride from Arashima Station. Note that parking may require some planning.
