The Bell of Time (Toki no Kane) is a historic symbol of Kawagoe, originally built between 1627 and 1634. The current bell tower, standing at approximately 16 meters, was reconstructed in 1893 after a major fire. This three-tiered structure chimes four times daily (6 AM, 12 PM, 3 PM, and 6 PM), its sounds echoing through the traditional Kurazukuri district. Recognized as one of Japan's top 100 soundscapes, it's a must-see landmark. Located at 15-7 Saiwaicho, Kawagoe, it's a short walk from the Ichibangai bus stop on the Tobu Tojo Line from Kawagoe Station. Visit during the day to explore the surrounding historic streets and shops.
