Visit the Statue of Junpachi Kasai in Wakayama Park, a tribute to the founder of Japan's first private cement company, now known as Taiheiyo Cement Corporation. Junpachi Kasai, an honorary citizen of Sanyo Onoda, played a crucial role in the modernization of the city. The statue, erected in 1955, depicts Kasai contemplating a marble sphere, symbolizing his dedication and hard work. From this vantage point, you can also catch a glimpse of the Kanmon Bridge. While there, explore Sumiyoshi Shrine, which Kasai originally established as his private shrine.
