Koyasan Ichinohashi Bridge marks the formal entrance to Okunoin Cemetery, one of Japan's most sacred sites. From here, a 2-kilometer path leads to the mausoleum of Kobo Daishi (Kukai), the founder of Shingon Buddhism. The path is lined with towering cedar trees, and over 200,000 tombstones and monuments, creating a solemn and awe-inspiring atmosphere. It is considered respectful to bow before crossing the bridge. The morning offers a quieter experience to appreciate the spiritual ambiance.
