Overview

The Akita City Red Brick Museum, housed in the former Akita Bank's main branch, is a designated Important Cultural Property of Japan. This stunning two-story brick building, completed in 1912, showcases a blend of Renaissance and Baroque architectural styles. Inside, visitors can admire the opulent interior, including the former business room with its impressive ceiling and the director's room. The museum also features the Katsuhei Tokushi Memorial Hall and the Shiro Sekiya Memorial Room, displaying their respective works. Located near the Kawabata entrance, it's a short bus ride or a 15-minute walk from JR Akita Station. A visit offers a glimpse into Akita's history and artistic heritage.
