The Yamasho Memorial Hall in Murata, Miyagi, offers a glimpse into the town's prosperous past as a safflower merchant center. Housed in a beautifully preserved kura (storehouse), designated as a national important cultural property in August 2018, visitors can explore the architecture and learn about the area's history. Note that as of August 2022, the hall is temporarily closed for restoration work following an earthquake. Access is available via bus from Ogawara Station or car from Murata IC. Parking is available for both large and standard-sized vehicles. Reservations are required for guided tours and group visits.
