Kawaharake Yokochō is a charming shopping street located just a short walk from Kumano Hayatama Taisha Shrine in Shingu, Wakayama. This quaint area evokes the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese merchant district, reminiscent of the shops that once lined the Kumano River. Here, you can find local souvenirs, including Kumano's famous mikan (mandarin oranges) and local sake. While compact, Kawaharake Yokochō offers a convenient spot to take a break during your sightseeing, with benches available for resting. Note that some shops may have limited hours, especially during off-peak seasons, so visiting earlier in the day is recommended. It's an ideal place to pick up a few gifts and experience a taste of old Shingu.
