The Han Kosho Omotemon Gate, also known as the Meitokumon Gate, was originally built during the Tenmei era as the main gate of the Han Kosho, a school for children of samurai. This impressive Yakui-style gate, featuring a 3-ken, 1-to structure with a hidden door, was relocated to its current location at Miharu Elementary School in 1947, where it now serves as the school's main gate. Located near the Miharu Town Hall, a 15-minute walk from the Miharu Castle ruins, the gate offers a glimpse into the area's Edo-period history. Visitors can admire the gate's architecture and the "Meitokudo" plaque, a replica of the seventh lord's calligraphy. The gate is especially picturesque in autumn, framed by colorful ginkgo and maple trees.
