Explore the fascinating Fukiya Copper Mine Sasaune Tunnel, a historic site where copper and iron pyrite were mined from the Edo to Taisho periods. Reopened in 1978, visitors can now venture inside this intriguing tunnel. The mine maintains a consistent temperature of around 15°C (59°F), offering a naturally cool experience year-round. Located in Takahashi, Okayama Prefecture, the mine is a 40-minute drive from the Niimi Interchange on the Chugoku Expressway or a 40-minute taxi ride from JR Bicchu-Takahashi Station. Open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM between April and November, and from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM between December and March (closed December 29-31), with an admission fee of ¥400 for adults and ¥200 for junior high students and younger.
