Mount Shosha Enkyō-ji Temple, located atop Mount Shosha in Himeji, is a historic Tendai Buddhist temple featuring a grand lecture hall and various temple buildings dating back to the Muromachi period. The serene grounds are shaded by ancient trees and offer views of the Seto Inland Sea. Famously, it served as a filming location for the Hollywood movie "The Last Samurai." Visitors can reach the temple by bus and ropeway from Himeji Station. Allow at least 2 hours to explore the extensive temple grounds, including Mani-den Hall and the inner sanctuary. Note that the temple complex involves some walking, including stairs, so wear comfortable shoes.
