Minobusan Kuonji Temple, the head temple of the Nichiren sect, was founded in 1274 by the Buddhist monk Nichiren. Nestled in the mountains of Yamanashi Prefecture, it's renowned as a spiritual haven and features stunning architecture, including a grand main hall and a five-story pagoda. The temple is especially famous for its weeping cherry blossoms, which bloom in early spring. Visitors can reach the main hall by climbing the steep 287-step Bodai-tei staircase or by using a more accessible inclined elevator. Don't miss the panoramic views from the mountaintop Okunoin, accessible by ropeway.
