Explore the historic Futamata Castle Ruins, now Shiroyama Park, perched on a small mountain overlooking Futamata. Once a strategic point defended by the Tenryu and Futamata Rivers, the castle offers a glimpse into the past with its remaining stone walls and castle grounds. It's also known as the place where Tokugawa Ieyasu's eldest son, Nobuyasu, was ordered to commit suicide. Today, the park features open spaces and play equipment, making it suitable for both history enthusiasts and families. Access is from Tenryu-Futamata River Station, though be prepared for some uphill walking. Visit during the day for the best views and a peaceful experience.
