Discover the serene beauty of Makunbetsu Marsh, located in Ishikari, Hokkaido, a short trip from Sapporo. This 40-hectare wetland is renowned for its stunning display of Mizubasho (Asian skunk cabbage) that blooms from April to May. A well-maintained 1.5km boardwalk allows you to explore the marsh, leading to a 400m wooden path that crosses the wetland to the riverbank. It's a peaceful escape where you can enjoy the flora and fauna, including alder trees and Japanese irises. The best time to visit is in late April to early May to witness the Mizubasho in full bloom. Parking is available near the entrance, making it easily accessible by car.
