Sōmune-tera, also known as Sano Yakuyoke Daishi, is a temple dedicated to Ganzan Daishi, the 18th head priest of Mount Hiei. Founded in 938, it's famous for warding off evil. While some visitors find it smaller than expected based on TV commercials, it's a popular destination, especially during New Year's. The temple features golden accents, a golden bell created by a Living National Treasure, and the grave of Shōzō Tanaka. Located a 15-minute walk from Sano-shi Station, it offers free parking and is near the Sano City Tourist Information Center.
