Motoryu-ji Temple, located in Koka, Shiga Prefecture, is a historic temple founded in 1284. While currently a Jodo sect temple, it was originally Tendai. The temple is known for its wooden eleven-faced Kannon statue, a designated Koka City cultural property, unveiled annually on August 10th. Managed by local parishioners, the temple is also a hidden gem for hydrangea lovers. The hydrangea garden on the back hill features well-maintained hydrangeas. Note that the temple is located within a small village, requiring travel on narrow roads. Limited parking is available in front of the temple.
