Toyoda House

Overview

The Toyoda House, located in Imai-cho, Kashihara, is a preserved merchant residence that once belonged to a prominent lumber dealer. Easily accessible, it's a 7-minute walk from Kintetsu Yagi-nishiguchi Station. The building features a distinctive white facade with the character for "wood" displayed prominently, reflecting its history in the lumber trade. Inside, visitors can explore a traditional six-room layout and a tea room favored by tea master Sen no Sōkyū. A visit requires advance notice and a small admission fee of ¥200, offering a glimpse into the life of a wealthy merchant family during the Edo period.
