Takamura Sanso is the former mountain retreat of sculptor and poet Kotaro Takamura, where he spent seven years of his later life. Located in Hanamaki, Iwate Prefecture, the site offers a glimpse into Takamura's simple life during his reclusive period. The original small hut is preserved within protective outer structures, allowing visitors to observe his living space and view the "Hikari" (Light) carving he made for the toilet's skylight. Nearby, the Kotaro Takamura Museum displays his works and personal items. A visit here provides insight into Takamura's life and connection to the area, including his relationship with Kenji Miyazawa. The site is accessible via a walking path from the museum.
