Located a short walk from both JR Ashikaga and Tobu Ashikagashi stations, the Ashikaga City Hall Machinaka Yugakukan serves as a convenient tourist information center and rest stop. Housed in a building with a bank-like facade, this free facility offers pamphlets, maps, and exhibits on Ashikaga's history, particularly its textile industry. Visitors can view weaving machines and displays of local textiles like Ashikaga Meisen. The Yugakukan also provides a comfortable space to relax with seating and vending machines. While kimono rentals and armor fitting experiences were previously available, they are currently suspended. It's an ideal first stop to gather information before exploring Ashikaga's attractions, including the nearby Ashikaga Gakko.
