Sumida Hachiman Shrine in Hashimoto City, Wakayama, is a historic site founded by Emperor Kinmei. It's home to the "Person Image Mirror," a national treasure and one of Japan's oldest inscriptions. The shrine also houses the "Sumida Documents," important cultural properties of the prefecture. Visit during the Autumn Festival to witness the impressive danjiri parade, a designated intangible folk cultural property. The shrine is accessible by bus from JR/Nankai Hashimoto Station or a walk from JR Sumida Station.
