Kinkaku-un is a historic structure located in Yokoyama, Iwakuni City, easily accessible by a 20-minute bus ride from Iwakuni Station. Originally part of the old castle grounds, this relocated building now serves as an ema hall (a place for votive tablets). Constructed in the Meiji era, it resembles a yagura (turret) from the former feudal domain. The picturesque view of Kinkaku-un reflected in the surrounding moat within Kikkawa Park makes it a worthwhile stop. Visitors can explore the tranquil atmosphere and appreciate the building's architecture, especially beautiful during the autumn foliage season. While the interior is simple, the exterior view from the park's moat offers a memorable photo opportunity. It's a registered tangible cultural property of Iwakuni City.
