Takama Hiko Shrine, possibly the site of the legendary Takamahara, is a prestigious shrine located at the foot of Mt. Kongo in Nara Prefecture. Dedicated to Takamimusubi-no-kami, one of Japan's earliest deities, the shrine's sacred object is the conical Mt. Shirakumo. The approach to the shrine features towering cedar trees, creating a serene atmosphere. While not heavily touristed, it's a popular starting point for climbing Mt. Kongo. The shrine is accessible by car with a small parking area, or via a hiking trail. Visit in the morning or afternoon to best experience the tranquil surroundings.
