Aira-tsu Shrine, originally known as Otohime Shrine, was founded in 709 AD and is revered by locals. It was one of the 11 shrines of Obi during the Edo period. Renamed Aira-tsu Shrine in the Meiji era, it features unique guardian figures like monkeys and chickens instead of the typical komainu. The shrine is located near Horikawa Bridge in the Yabetsu district of Nichinan City, a short drive from JR Aburatsu Station. It's also known as a filming location for the movie "Tora-san's Youth."
