The Former Tsuwano Clan Chief Retainer Tago Family Front Gate is located on Tonamachi Street in Tsuwano. The Tago family served as chief retainers to the Kamei clan for 11 generations. While the residence no longer exists, the impressive gate remains, showcasing the family's high status with its watchtowers and sturdy construction. The gate is a designated cultural property of Shimane Prefecture. It's located across from the site of the former domain school, Yōrōkan. A visit offers a glimpse into the Edo period and the architecture of a prominent samurai family.
