Oura Cathedral

Overview

Oura Cathedral, also known as the Church of the 26 Japanese Martyrs, is Japan's oldest standing Christian church, dating back to 1864. Located in Nagasaki's Minami-yamate district, it's a short walk from the Oura Tenshudo tram stop and near Glover Garden. This Gothic-style cathedral features beautiful stained glass windows and a serene atmosphere. Note that photography is prohibited inside the church. Admission is ¥1000 for adults, and a visit includes access to the adjacent Christian Museum, showcasing the history of Christianity in Japan. It's best to visit in the morning or afternoon to avoid crowds.
