The Awashima Artist Village, located in Mitoyo, Kagawa Prefecture, is housed in the former Awashima Junior High School. This unique space serves as a hub for artists, particularly during the Setouchi International Art Festival. Visitors can explore the grounds and view ongoing art projects, including the notable "Cave Painting as Language and the Story of Whales Reborn into Oxygen" by Mayur and Maki Ohkojima, a collaborative piece with the island's residents. Open to the public on Saturday afternoons, it's a great place to see art in progress and experience the creative atmosphere of Awashima Island.
