Namiita Coast, located in Otsuchi, Iwate Prefecture, is a scenic beach easily accessible via a 5-minute walk from Namiita Coast Station on the Sanriku Railway Rias Line. Known historically for its beautiful sandy beach and pine groves, the coast faced significant damage from the Great East Japan Earthquake, including land subsidence. Efforts are underway to restore the beach and pine forest with ongoing planting and construction. Despite the changes, it remains a popular spot for surfers and offers stunning coastal views along National Route 45. Note that toilet facilities are limited in the immediate vicinity. The area is also part of Otsuchi, known for being the model of Hyokkori Hyotan Island, with the theme song playing at noon.
