Kaidan-in Temple, once part of Kanzeon-ji, is now an independent Rinzai Buddhist temple. It's known as one of the "Three Great Kaidan of Japan," places where monks receive the precepts. Founded by Ganjin, the temple features a main hall rebuilt in 1680 and houses a nationally important wooden statue of Birushana Buddha from the Heian period. Located a 10-minute walk from Nishitetsu Gojo Station, Kaidan-in offers a serene atmosphere and a glimpse into Japan's Buddhist history. Visit during the day to explore the temple grounds and appreciate the historical architecture.
