The Ohashi Roka Covered Bridge, located within Wakayama Castle, is a unique corridor bridge connecting the Ninomaru (inner bailey) and Nishinomaru (western bailey). Originally reserved for the exclusive use of the lord and his attendants, this bridge features a distinctive sloped design, offering a hidden passage over the moat. Reconstructed in 2006, visitors can experience walking across its unusual, subtly stepped floor (shoes must be removed). The bridge provides scenic views and a glimpse into the castle's history. It's conveniently located near the Wakayama Castle keep and the Momijidani Garden, making it an ideal addition to your castle exploration. Open to the public and free to enter, the Ohashi Roka is a must-see architectural feature within Wakayama Castle.
