Kirishima East Shrine, believed to have been founded around 97 B.C., is one of the six Kirishima shrines and a site of deep historical and spiritual significance. Dedicated to the deities Izanagi and Izanami, it has long been revered by the imperial family and the Shimazu clan. Located in the mountains of Miyazaki Prefecture, near Ebino and Ikoma Plateau, the shrine offers stunning views and a tranquil atmosphere. Visitors can explore the sacred grounds and even access a hiking trail to Mt. Takachiho. Note that the path to the main shrine may be affected by past typhoon damage, with a temporary worship hall available.
