Explore the Kakuda Castle Ruins, the former residence of the Ishikawa clan granted by the Date family, now a renowned cherry blossom viewing spot. The site later served as the Kakuda Prefecture government office, followed by Kakuda Middle School, and then Kakuda High School after the war. Located a 15-minute walk from Kakuda Station on the Abukuma Express Line, or a 35-minute drive from the Shiroishi IC on the Tohoku Expressway. While the castle's original structure is no longer standing, remnants and historical markers offer a glimpse into its past. Visit during the spring to witness the stunning cherry blossoms in full bloom. The site is also known as Gagyū Castle, named after the shape of the hill resembling a reclining cow.
