The Awashima Marine Memorial Museum, formerly Japan's oldest national seaman's school, showcases a blend of Taisho-era wooden architecture with modern design. Though currently closed to the public as of December 24, 2021, this registered tangible cultural property offers a glimpse into maritime history. Visitors can explore preserved classrooms, nautical artifacts, and exhibits detailing the school's legacy. The museum grounds also feature historical anchors and a bell from a Qing Dynasty warship. The light green exterior of the building provides a picturesque view against the sea. Located on Awashima Island, it's a 15-minute ferry ride from Suda Port.
