Enfuku-ji Temple, also known as Iinuma Kannon, is the 27th temple on the Bando 33 Kannon Pilgrimage. Founded in 728 and later consecrated by Kobo Daishi, the temple features a main hall (Kannon-do) housing an eleven-faced Kannon statue and a beautiful vermilion five-story pagoda. The temple grounds also contain the Iinuma Standard Point Monument, a historical marker that represents the origin of river surveying in Japan. Located in central Choshi, a town that flourished as a temple town around Iinuma Kannon, the temple is easily accessible and offers a serene atmosphere for visitors. Don't miss the monthly fair held on the 18th.
