Located in Imai-cho, a temple town that developed around its grounds, Shonenji Temple features a main hall rebuilt in the early modern period, showcasing the characteristics of a large-scale Shinshu temple. The temple served as lodging for the Emperor during his visit to the Unebi Imperial Mausoleum in 1877. Note that the main hall is currently undergoing dismantling and repairs (as of 2019). Visitors can explore the grounds freely and appreciate the historic atmosphere of this central landmark in Imai-cho. The temple is a 7-minute walk from Kintetsu Yagi-nishiguchi Station. Admission is free.
