Located within the historic Suganuma Gassho Village in Gokayama, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Gokayama Folklore Museum offers a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the region. The museum showcases over 200 folk tools and materials, providing insight into the daily lives of the people who lived in these unique gassho-style houses. See traditional clothing, weaving machines, and farming tools. The museum building itself is the oldest gassho-style structure in the Suganuma Village. It is accessible by bus from Johana Station (41 minutes) or a 3-minute drive from Gokayama IC. A combined ticket with the Ensho no Yakata (Saltpeter Museum) is available.
