Korokei Gorge, located along the Seirenji River (a tributary of the Nabari River), offers stunning natural beauty just beyond a tunnel. This 8 km stretch features dramatic, axe-hewn columnar jointing rock formations. Visitors can enjoy vibrant yamabuki and azalea blossoms in spring, while autumn brings breathtaking foliage that reflects off the rock faces. The gorge is 6.5 km long and easily accessible from Kintetsu Nabari Station via a 30-minute bus ride to the 'Momijidani' or 'Ochiai' bus stops. Driving from the Ueno IC on the Meihan National Highway takes about 30 minutes via Routes 365 and 165. It's a perfect spot for nature lovers and photographers, especially during the fall foliage season.
