Ganryu Island, a small, flat island in the Kanmon Straits, is famous as the site of the duel between legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro in 1612. Though officially named Funashima, it's known as Ganryu Island after Kojiro's fighting style. Visitors can explore statues of Musashi and Kojiro, a floating pier, an artificial beach, and walking paths.
