Lake Gozaisho is surrounded by lush wetland vegetation, while Akanuma is a smaller, mysterious pond known for its changing colors depending on the season and light. Explore the boardwalks through the wetlands to see alpine plants like Asian skunk cabbage. Located within Gozaisho Garden, accessible via the Hachimantai Aspite Line, it's a 15-20 minute walk from the parking area. The best time to visit is mid-June to see the vibrant colors of Akanuma, but autumn foliage reflecting on the ponds is also spectacular.
