Okuyugawara is a secluded hot spring area nestled deeper in Yugawara, accessible by a 15-30 minute bus ride from Yugawara Station. Known for its tranquil atmosphere and lush greenery, it offers a peaceful escape from the bustling city. Visitors can enjoy scenic hiking trails like the Momiji-no-Sato and Mount Amaterasu courses, especially beautiful during the autumn foliage season, which lasts until early December. The area features traditional ryokans (Japanese inns) where guests can relax in onsen (hot springs) and savor local cuisine. Note that some buses only go as far as Fudo Falls, so check schedules in advance. While day-trip onsen options may be limited, Okuyugawara is ideal for an overnight stay focused on relaxation and nature.
