Lake Tamahara is a man-made lake created by the Tamahara Dam in the Tamahara Plateau, located in Numata, Gunma Prefecture. Situated at an altitude of approximately 1,200 meters, it offers a refreshing escape even in summer. Visitors can enjoy scenic views of the surrounding broadleaf forests and mountains, especially beautiful during the autumn foliage season. The lake features a cycling road around its perimeter, perfect for leisurely exploration. Note that the water levels can fluctuate due to its function as a pumped-storage hydroelectric dam. The lake is near Tamahara Lavender Park and Tamahara Ski Park.
