Hoon-ji Temple, a Jodo Shinshu temple, is located near the entrance to the Uesugi Family Mausoleum in Yonezawa. Originally founded in Rokumachi, Niigata, in 737 AD, it moved to Yonezawa with Uesugi Kagekatsu in 1601. Transferred in front of the Uesugi family mausoleum due to the separation of Shinto and Buddhism in the Meiji era, Hoon-ji Temple serves as the Uesugi family's temple, housing numerous Buddhist statues related to the clan. Visitors can explore the peaceful grounds and admire the main hall. It's a great place to visit before or after seeing the Uesugi Family Mausoleum.
