Located in the Oohira Valley, Kaen Falls (also known as Hinohodaki Falls) is a stunning 40-meter waterfall easily accessible from Yonezawa Station by car. The falls are particularly beautiful during the spring when the new greenery emerges and in the fall when the leaves change color. As one of the headstreams of the Mogami River, Kaen Falls is near Meido Falls. Visitors can get a great view of Kaen Falls from the Takimidai observation point near the Tengendai Plateau, while Meido Falls is visible from the Nakagoazuma Observatory. Both waterfalls offer spectacular autumn foliage.
