Ishikari Hachiman Shrine, established in 1858, holds a significant place in the history of Hokkaido. Originally conceived as the guardian shrine of Ezo (Hokkaido), it was initially a branch of Hakodate Hachimangu Shrine. The shrine was moved to its current location on the left bank of the Ishikari River during the Meiji era.
