Sea Hell (Umi Jigoku) is one of the most famous and visually stunning hot springs in Beppu's "Hells" circuit. Easily accessible by bus from JR Beppu Station, this designated Place of Scenic Beauty features a striking cobalt blue pond, colored by iron sulfate, with waters reaching 98°C (208°F). Visitors can explore the grounds, which include a red-colored pond, a foot bath heated by the spring's waters, and a large souvenir shop. The on-site greenhouse showcases tropical plants, including giant water lilies.
