Ōnuma is a scenic marsh located in Akita Prefecture, nestled within the Hachimantai National Park. Easily accessible by bus from the Hachimantai summit bus stop, as well as from Tazawako Station, Tamagawa Onsen, and Kazuno-Hanawa Station (seasonal operation from April to November). A highlight is the well-maintained 1.3km nature trail around the marsh, taking about 40 minutes to complete, offering views of seasonal flora and vibrant autumn foliage. The Hachimantai Visitor Center is conveniently located nearby, providing parking and exhibits. Be aware of potential bear sightings and consider bringing a bear bell. Best visited during the autumn months for stunning red and yellow foliage.
