The Exile Hut in Nanto, Toyama, is a preserved example of the huts used by the Kaga Clan during the Edo period for exiling criminals. This small, thatched-roof structure is the only remaining one of eight such huts. A small opening in the entrance pillar was used to provide food to the exiled. While the original hut collapsed in 1963 due to heavy snow, the reconstructed building, dating back to 1965, is now designated as a Prefectural Tangible Folk Cultural Property. Visitors can view the exterior of the hut, located a short walk from the Murakami Residence, offering a glimpse into the harsh conditions faced by those exiled here.
